Global Healthcare Exchange and Inobis Form Alliance to Ensure Greater Accuracy and Improve Efficiencies in Healthcare Procurement
WESTMINSTER, Colo. and KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — September 18, 2002 — Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX) and Inobis have formed a strategic alliance designed to increase accuracy in healthcare procurement by linking GHX’s AllSource™ product catalog with Inobis’s Itemcentric provider-based data set. The alignment of these two data resources signifies a major step toward standardizing healthcare supply chain data by more closely matching provider and manufacturer data sets. As a result, GHX and Inobis can offer healthcare providers a unique supply chain solution that dramatically improves data accuracy, reliability, and richness.

Created to reduce costs and improve efficiencies in the healthcare supply chain, GHX has created the AllSource catalog as the only product catalog in healthcare based on industry standards with normalized data owned and verified by suppliers. A leading supply chain data and information management company, Inobis developed and maintains the Itemcentric data warehouse, which characterizes by function more than 700,000 unique products purchased by hospitals. Through the alliance, Inobis will enhance its growing data preparation services to include connectivity to the AllSource catalog. Because the data in the AllSource catalog is maintained by the suppliers, Inobis’s provider customers can be assured of greater accuracy in the purchase orders they place using this information.

“Real improvements in the healthcare supply chain depend on preventing mistakes that either delay transactions or result in time-consuming and costly reconciliations when buyer and seller information does not match,” say GHX Chief Executive Officer Mike Mahoney. “Inobis is well-respected for its ability to deliver exceptional data management services. Now, with access to the AllSource catalog, Inobis is even better equipped to help hospitals substantially improve the quality and uniformity of their item master files.”

In addition to product specific data, such as item number and description, Inobis’ Itemcentric database also includes information such as associated contracts and purchase price performance. Further, Inobis’ full suite of services includes purchase sourcing and contract management.

“GHX and Inobis’ product offerings complement one another as a result of our common commitment to standardized data and our shared goal of improving supply chain efficiencies,” says Steve Polte, chief operating officer, Inobis. “The total derived benefit for hospitals is the synergy created by the increased order accuracy and more efficient purchasing process enabled by GHX and the comprehensive business intelligence and decision support that Inobis offers.”
