The new directors have no affiliation, beyond board membership, with either GHX or its owners. The new “independent” directors are: Lynda M. Applegate, Henry R. Byers Professor of Business Administration, Harvard Business School (HBS)- A recognized expert in the challenges of building network economy businesses in turbulent times, Professor Applegate teaches entrepreneurial management, managerial economics, and business strategy and design. The author of several books and hundreds of Harvard Business School cases, she has received honors for her research papers on 21st century business models and the impact of information technology on group processes and decisions. Professor Applegate has served as a board member for both private and public companies and is a member of the NASDAQ Advisory Council. She also serves on advisory boards to the Comptroller General of the U.S. and the World Bank's Global Development Gateway.
Greg Clark, President and Chief Executive Officer, E2Open – A former IBM distinguished engineer and vice president, Clark now leads E2Open, an international provider of Internet-based infrastructure software for industry process integration. Clark previously served as E2Open’s chief operating officer and chief technology officer. Instrumental in the security standards arena, Clark was also chairman, chief executive officer and chief technology officer of Dascom, Inc., a Web security management technology company acquired by IBM in 1999. He also led the Asia Pacific Development and Porting team at AT&T UNIX System Laboratories, a division of Bell Labs.
Lawrence P. Farrell Jr., Lt. Gen., USAF (Ret.), President and Chief Executive Officer, National Defense Industrial Association – A former command pilot and deputy chief of staff for Plans and Programs, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C., General Farrell currently leads a non-profit, international association that fosters a legal and ethical forum for the interchange of defense-related ideas and technology between government and industry. His considerable business development experience includes work with Raytheon, KPMG, Huber Corp., The Boeing Company, Philadelphia Electric Company, and the Rand Corporation.
Gale Sayers, Chairman, Sayers Group, LLC – After retiring from the Chicago Bears football team, NFL Hall of Famer Gale Sayers earned a masters degree in Educational Administration and served as athletic director for Southern Illinois University before becoming a successful entrepreneur. Founded in 1984, the Sayers Group is a national technology solutions provider with locations across the U.S. and annual revenues of more than $300 million. Sayers was named a 1999 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and serves on the board of directors of Triad Hospitals, Inc., which manages healthcare facilities in the south and southwestern United States.
